SEE ALSO...

Mucin 12 Antibody (B-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mucin 12 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Mucin 12 antibody (B-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mucin 12 is a high molecular weight glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in protecting mucosal surfaces, contributing to the formation of a protective barrier against pathogens and particulate matter. Mucin 12 is primarily located in epithelial cells of the colon, pancreas, prostate, and uterus, where Mucin 12 maintains the integrity of the mucosal layer. Expression of Mucin 12 in these tissues is vital for proper physiological function, as Mucin 12 helps prevent inflammation and infection by trapping harmful substances. Studies have shown that colorectal tumors often exhibit reduced levels of Mucin 12 transcript compared to normal colon tissues, suggesting Mucin 12′s potential role as a biomarker for cancer progression. Mucin 12 contains a predicted transmembrane domain, two extracellular cysteine-rich EGF-like domains, a coiled-coil region, and a domain rich in serine, threonine, and proline, which are characteristic features of mucins that contribute to their structural and functional diversity.
