    SEE ALSO...

MLTK Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects MLTK protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MLTK antibody (A-2) is available as the non-conjugated form. MLTK, also known as mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase MLT, leucine zipper- and sterile a motif-containing kinase, is an 800 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene ZAK. MLTK functions as a crucial component of cellular signaling pathways, specifically involved in the stress-activated protein kinase cascade, which regulates the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 pathways. Such regulation is vital for cellular responses to stress, including apoptosis and cell cycle control. MLTK primarily resides in the cytoplasm as a homodimer but translocates to the nucleus upon ultraviolet B irradiation, highlighting a role in cellular stress responses. MLTK regulates S and G2 cell cycle checkpoints through direct phosphorylation of Chk2, while MLTK isoform 1 associates with cell shrinkage and disruption of actin stress fibers, potentially contributing to neoplastic transformation and cancer development. MLTK isoform 1 phosphorylates Histone H3 at Ser 28, indicating involvement in chromatin remodeling and gene expression regulation.
