LAL Antibody (9G7F12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Lysosomal Acid Lipase (LAL) protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-LAL antibody (9G7F12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. LAL protein, a member of the lipase gene family, plays a vital role in lipid metabolism, specifically in the hydrolysis of triglycerides and cholesteryl esters within lysosomes. LAL enzymatic activity is crucial for maintaining lipid homeostasis, and defects in LAL gene can lead to severe metabolic disorders such as Wolman disease and cholesteryl ester storage disease. LAL has six potential N-glycosylation sites and one potential O-glycosylation site, which are important for stability and function, as these post-translational modifications can influence enzyme activity and substrate recognition. LAL overexpression has also been implicated in the development of atherosclerosis, highlighting significance in both normal physiology and disease states.

Hi, I purchased this antibody and used it on mouse cell line 3T3-l1. When doing a western blot I found a surprisingly strong signal around 100kDa and a weak signal around 50kDa.  Do you have any info if the 100kDa is LAL? Thanks,

Asked by: Ofer Moldavski
Thank you for your question. The predicted molecular weight of LAL is ~ 45 kDa. We do not have any data or information regarding a 100 kDa form of LAL. We also have not specifically tested this antibody in 3T3-L1 cell lysate. Please contact our Technical Service Department for support in troubleshooting this antibody.

Can LAL (9G7F12): sc-58374 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, LAL (9G7F12): sc-58374 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 9G7F12 AC in IP of LAL protein in HepG2This antibody yields a lot of unspecific bands and the immunoprecipitation is not pure at all. It seems that the proteins stick to the beads. In contrast, the same antibody unconjugated is much better an yields much more pure sample in immunoprecipitation. Based on this, we would like to ask for refund
