Ibudilast is a relatively nonselective PDE (phosphodiesterase) inhibitor found to have anti-inflammatory activity primarily targeting the peripheral immune system and in the CNS via attenuation of glial cells. Ibudilast inhibits the aggregation of platelets and acts as a vasodilator by preventing the breakdown of secondary messengers cAMP and cGMP. Ibudilast is an inhibitor of PDE1A, PDE2A, PDE3A, PDE4A and PDE5A.
