Grancalcin Antibody (Q-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Grancalcin in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Grancalcin is a calcium-binding protein predominantly found in human neutrophils and is a member of the penta EF-hand (PEF) subfamily of EF-hand proteins, which includes calpain, sorcin, peflin, and ALG-2. Grancalcin undergoes significant conformational changes upon calcium binding, exposing hydrophobic amino acid residues that facilitate interaction with hydrophobic surfaces. Grancalcin forms a homodimer through the association of unpaired EF5 hands, enhancing stability and functionality. Grancalcin′s interaction with L-plastin, a protein recognized for actin bundling activity, suggests a vital role in regulating neutrophil adhesion, essential for immune response and inflammation. Grancalcin is primarily associated with cells derived from bone marrow, being particularly abundant in neutrophils and monocytes, while only trace amounts exist in lymphocytes, highlighting significance in innate immunity and cellular signaling pathways.
