Gö 6983 is a PKC inhibitor. Gö 6983 may act to selectively inhibit several PKC isoenzymes (IC50 = 7 nM for PKCalpha and PKCbeta 6nM for PKCgamma 10 nM for PKCdelta 60nM for PKCzeta). The compound does not effectively inhibit PKCmu (IC50 = 20 muM) and therefore can be used to differentiate PKCmu from other isoforms. Gö 6983 is a potent inhibitor that targets the ATP binding site of protein kinases, effectively blocking signal transduction pathways. Research has demonstrated its ability to impede the proliferation of pluripotent cells, resulting in neuronal cell death. Additionally, Gö 6983 effectively inhibits intracellular calcium levels and enzyme activities within cancerous tissues. Furthermore, this compound acts as a receptor antagonist, leading to the suppression of energy metabolism and cytosolic calcium levels.
