SEE ALSO...

Ferritin light chain Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ferritin light chain of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ferritin light chain antibody (D-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ferritin light chain plays a crucial role in iron metabolism, particularly in storage and release of iron within cells, which is vital for maintaining cellular iron homeostasis and preventing oxidative damage. Ferritin light chain, along with its heavy chain counterpart, forms a hollow spherical structure that can sequester up to 4,500 iron atoms in a non-toxic form, thus acting as a buffer against iron overload. Dysregulation of ferritin light chain expression has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases and cataract formation, highlighting its importance in both health and disease. The gene encoding human ferritin light chain is located on chromosome 19q13.3-q13.4, and expression is tightly regulated in response to cellular iron levels, making ferritin light chain a key player in the body′s response to iron deficiency and overload.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Detects 2 bandsI have used this antibody at a dilution of 1:500 (as per the data sheet). I get 2 crisp bands, one just below 25kDa and one slightly above 15 kDa (approx 19 kDa). I am confused which one to quantify? Can someone help me with this?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad for western blotI used this antibody in western blot of human microglial cell. I obtained two bands; one between 30-37KDa and a second one below 20KDa. Anyway, the bands are clear and there is no background.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect performanceThis antibody recognizes a single band in SiHa cell line (19 kDa) by western blot experiments performed using total cellular extract (50 ug). This band increases after treatment of cells with iron and the antibody (dil 1:500) always shows perfect performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FTL1The FTL1 Antibody works very well for Western blot applications, showing strong and clear banding with minimal background noise present
Date published: 2017-07-31
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good antibodyWorks well for WB. Tested at 1:500. Happy with the antibody.
Date published: 2017-03-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent for WBexcellent for WB with correct size band and right expression pattern by human samples with no other none specific bands
Date published: 2016-12-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Specific antibodyThe (D-9) clone is specific for ferritin light chain, and does not cross react with ferritin heavy chain. A popular choice for WB and IF as supported in numerous product citations.
