FAM50A Antibody (XX-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects FAM50A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FAM50A antibody (XX-8) is available as the non-conjugated form. FAM50A, also known as family with sequence similarity 50, member A, DXS9928E, HXC26, XAP5, or 9F, is a 339 amino acid nuclear protein that plays a crucial role in cellular processes as a transcription factor, potentially binding to DNA to regulate gene expression. FAM50A is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels found in fetal kidney, liver, and brain tissues, as well as in adult heart, spleen, skeletal muscle, prostate, and small intestine. An SV40 large T antigen nuclear localization signal within FAM50A facilitates transport into the nucleus, where FAM50A can exert regulatory functions. A polymorphic CCG repeat region in FAM50A′s 5′-untranslated region may influence gene expression and contribute to variability in function among individuals. Defects in the gene encoding FAM50A have been associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, highlighting FAM50A′s potential involvement in carcinogenesis and importance in cancer research.
