DHRS6 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects DHRS6 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DHRS6, also known as dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 6, EFA6R, SDR15C1, UCPA-OR, UNQ6308, or BDH2, is a 245 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family, which is an evolutionarily conserved group of oxidoreductases found across all forms of life. DHRS6 functions as a cytosolic type II R-β-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, playing a crucial role in cellular survival by facilitating the conversion of high levels of circulating 3-hydroxybutyrate into acetoacetate. The cytoplasmic localization of DHRS6 allows for efficient utilization of 3-hydroxybutyrate, particularly in peripheral tissues, where a high ratio of oxidized NAD+ and NAD+ dependence enhance enzymatic activity. The kinetic parameters of DHRS6 suggest optimal function in metabolic pathways, making DHRS6 an important target for research into energy metabolism and related disorders.
