Cytokeratin 5 Antibody (RCK103) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Cytokeratin 5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Cytokeratin 5 antibody (RCK103) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytokeratin 5 is a vital component of the cytoskeleton in epithelial cells, primarily located in the basal layer of stratified epithelia, where Cytokeratin 5 plays a crucial role in providing mechanical support and resilience to cellular stress. This structural positioning is essential for maintaining the integrity of epithelial tissues, particularly in areas subject to friction and abrasion, such as the skin and respiratory tract. Cytokeratin 5 expression can serve as a marker for certain types of epithelial tumors, aiding in the diagnosis and characterization of malignancies. Additionally, mutations in the cytokeratin 5 gene (KRT5) are linked to the autosomal dominant disorder epidermolysis bullosa, highlighting Cytokeratin 5′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.

Is antigen retrieval necessary when using this antibody in IHC(P)?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. We do recommend antigen retrieval when working with paraffin-embedded sections, specifically sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0, and heat. Our full protocol can be found on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
