QUICK LINKS

Butachlor is a selective herbicide that functions by inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids in target plants. It acts by interfering with the protein synthesis process, focusing on the elongation step. This disrupts the growth and development of the target plants. Butachlor′s mechanism of action involves its absorption by the roots and shoots of susceptible plants, where it is then translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetolactate synthase, a key component in the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids.
