BI-1 Antibody (20F430) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects BI-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). BI-1 (20F430) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. BI-1 protein, also known as Bax inhibitor 1 or testis enhanced gene transcript (TEGT), plays a crucial role in regulating cell death pathways influenced by Bcl-2 and Bax, making BI-1 essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Structurally, BI-1 protein is an integral membrane protein characterized by six membrane-spanning segments, which positions BI-1 predominantly within intracellular membranes, similar to other members of the Bcl-2 family. The human version of BI-1 consists of 237 amino acids and interacts with key apoptotic regulators such as Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL. Notably, when BI-1 is overexpressed in mammalian cells, BI-1 effectively suppresses apoptosis triggered by various stimuli, including Bax, etoposide, staurosporine, and growth factor deprivation, while BI-1 antisense can induce apoptosis. This multifaceted role in apoptosis regulation underscores BI-1′s potential significance in therapeutic strategies targeting cell survival and death.
