BAG-6 Antibody (D-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BAG-6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BAG-6 (D-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BAG-6 protein, also known as BAT3 (HLA-B associated transcript 3), plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing tumorigenesis. Located primarily in the nucleus, BAG-6 contains a ubiquitin-like domain at its N-terminus and two nuclear localization signals at its C-terminus, facilitating BAG-6′s function in cellular stress responses. Notably, BAG-6 interacts with apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF), stabilizing AIF and enhancing cellular sensitivity to apoptosis triggered by endoplasmic reticulum stress. In the context of cellular stress, such as during ricin treatment, BAG-6 is cleaved by caspase-3, leading to the generation of a pro-apoptotic fragment that promotes critical apoptotic processes, including nuclear condensation and phosphatidylserine externalization. Mice lacking BAG-6 exhibit severe developmental defects in vital organs such as the lungs, brain, and kidneys, underscoring BAG-6′s essential role in regulating both proliferation and apoptosis, with deficiencies often resulting in perinatal or midgestational lethality.
