ACD Antibody (AA-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ACD in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACD, also known as adrenocortical dysplasia homolog, PIP1, PTOP, TPP1, or TINT1, is a crucial 544 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in the telosome/shelterin complex, which is essential for the protection and maintenance of telomeres. ACD protein is localized in the nucleus, where ACD is vital for the proper assembly and stabilization of the telomere-associated complex, directly interacting with other key components such as protection of telomeres 1 (POT1) and telomeric repeat binding factor 1 (TRF1). ACD′s ability to regulate telomere length and elongation is critical for mediating telomerase activity and facilitating telomerase access to DNA, thereby influencing organogenesis and cellular aging. Notably, ACD undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in two isoforms that may have distinct functional roles, further underscoring the complexity and importance of ACD in cellular processes. Anti-ACD antibody (AA-2) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying telomere biology and its implications in health and disease.

Can sc-100597: ACD (AA-2) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100597: ACD (AA-2) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
