L-Caldesmon Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects L-Caldesmon of human origin and Caldesmon of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). L-Caldesmon (F-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Caldesmon plays a crucial role in muscle contraction and cellular motility by binding to actin filaments, which is essential for maintaining the structural integrity and functionality of muscle tissues. Caldesmon exists in two main forms: muscular Caldesmon, predominantly found in smooth muscle, and non-muscular Caldesmon, which is widely expressed in various non-muscle tissues. Multiple isoforms, resulting from alternative splicing of the Caldesmon gene, allow for a diverse range of regulatory functions in different cellular contexts. Muscular Caldesmon (isoform 1), also known as high molecular weight Caldesmon, is primarily located on thin filaments in smooth muscle, while non-muscular isoforms (2-5) are involved in various cellular processes across different tissues. Caldesmon′s interaction with other actin-binding proteins, such as Filamin 1, Nebulin, and Villin, further underscores its importance in the regulation of the cytoskeleton and muscle function, making anti-L-Caldesmon antibody (F-10) a valuable tool for researchers studying muscle biology and related disorders.
