Hemogen Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Hemogen protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Hemogen (C-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. Hemogen, also known as hemopoietic gene protein or erythroid differentiation-associated gene protein, is a 484 amino acid nuclear protein encoded by human gene HEMGN. Hemogen (C-5) monoclonal antibody recognizes a protein that plays a crucial role in hematopoiesis, particularly in erythroid cell differentiation, vital for red blood cell production and oxygen transport. Hemogen expression is predominantly found in hematopoietic precursor cells and can be detected in bone marrow, testis, thymus, thyroid tumors, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and leukemia cell lines. Hemogen shows down-regulation during megakaryocytic differentiation of K-562 cells when influenced by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) at the protein level, while showing up-regulation in normal peripheral blood mononuclear cells by mitogens, highlighting dynamic regulation during cell differentiation and response to external stimuli.
