Grancalcin Antibody (G-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Grancalcin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Grancalcin is a calcium-binding protein predominantly found in human neutrophils and is a member of the penta EF-hand (PEF) subfamily of EF-hand proteins, which includes calpain, sorcin, peflin, and ALG-2. Grancalcin undergoes significant conformational changes upon calcium binding, exposing hydrophobic amino acid residues that facilitate interaction with hydrophobic surfaces. Such interactions are vital for Grancalcin′s role in regulating neutrophil adhesion, particularly through association with L-plastin, a protein that exhibits actin bundling activity. Grancalcin is primarily associated with cells derived from the bone marrow, with highest concentrations found in neutrophils and monocytes, while only trace amounts are detected in lymphocytes. The unique structural properties and calcium-dependent functionality of Grancalcin underscore its importance in immune responses and cellular signaling pathways, making anti-Grancalcin antibody (G-12) an essential tool for researchers studying these processes.
