AChRα8 Antibody (308) is a rat monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects nicotinic acetylcholine receptor alpha 8 (AChRα8) in avian species through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-AChRα8 antibody (308) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AChRα8 is a crucial component of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor family, playing a vital role in fast synaptic transmission by forming a transmembrane aqueous pore that allows ions to flow in response to neurotransmitter binding. AChRα8 functions as a 456 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein predominantly located at the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction, where AChRα8 binds acetylcholine and facilitates cation influx, leading to muscle contraction. Proper functioning of AChRα8 remains essential for neuromuscular signaling, and dysfunction can lead to significant neuromuscular disorders. AChRα8 undergoes various post-translational modifications, influencing activity and interactions with other proteins, further underscoring importance in cellular signaling pathways.
