The acronym LETM stands for "Leucine Zipper-EF-hand containing Transmembrane." Mutations in LETM1 have been associated with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects many parts of the body.
If "LETM2" were a protein with a function similar to LETM1, it might also be assumed to play a role in mitochondrial physiology, possibly in ion transport or energy metabolism.
