TFB2M Antibody (2E10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TFB2M protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-TFB2M antibody (2E10) is available as a non-conjugated format. TFB2M, or transcription factor B2, mitochondrial, is a crucial 396 amino acid mitochondrial protein that plays a significant role in the regulation of mitochondrial gene expression. TFB2M belongs to the rRNA adenine N(6)-methyltransferase family and is responsible for the specific dimethylation of mitochondrial 12S rRNA at a conserved stem loop, a modification essential for proper assembly and function of mitochondrial ribosomes. This post-translational modification influences stability and translation efficiency of mitochondrial mRNA, impacting overall protein synthesis within mitochondria. TFB2M is expressed ubiquitously and is required for basal transcription of mitochondrial DNA, demonstrating importance in cellular energy metabolism and maintenance of mitochondrial function. While TFB2M exhibits less methyltransferase activity compared to TFB1M, TFB2M is more efficient in activating mitochondrial DNA transcription, highlighting a unique regulatory role in mitochondrial biology.
