SEE ALSO...

STOP Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects STOP in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-STOP antibody (H-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. STOP, consisting of 952 amino acids, plays a crucial role in stabilizing microtubules within the cytoplasm of mammalian cells, particularly under conditions that typically promote depolymerization, such as exposure to cold temperatures or assembly-inhibiting drugs. This stabilization is vital for maintaining cellular structure and function, especially in neurons, where STOP is predominantly located in the cell body and axon. The central region of STOP features five tandem repeats of 46 amino acids, which are essential for microtubule-binding properties, while a SH3-binding motif near the N-terminus facilitates interactions with other proteins, further underscoring STOP′s importance in cellular dynamics. STOP′s ability to confer resistance to extreme temperatures, even as low as -80° C, highlights STOP′s significance in preserving microtubule integrity and supporting neuronal health, making STOP monoclonal antibody (H-8) an invaluable tool for researchers studying microtubule dynamics and related cellular processes.

Can STOP (H-8): sc-137036 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. Yes, STOP (H-8): sc-137036 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
