Shigatoxin 2 Antibody (11E10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Shigatoxin 2 protein of E. coli origin by western blotting (WB). Anti-Shigatoxin 2 antibody (11E10) is available as a non-conjugated format, providing researchers with a reliable tool for studying this critical protein. Shigatoxin 2 (Stx2) is a potent virulence factor secreted by enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, particularly Shigella dysenteriae type 1, and plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which is the leading cause of acute renal failure in children globally. Stx2′s primary function involves inhibiting protein synthesis in host cells, leading to cell death and contributing to the inflammatory response that characterizes HUS. This mechanism disrupts normal cellular functions and triggers a cascade of immune responses that exacerbate tissue damage, particularly in the kidneys. Understanding Stx2′s role in disease progression is vital for developing therapeutic strategies aimed at mitigating the severe effects of infections caused by Shigella and E. coli.

Hi Support, I am going to check Shiga-like toxin (Stx2e) from E.coli (GenBank accession = M21534.1) using WB. We understand that immunogen sequences are not disclosed, but could you please check either SC-52727 or SC-69866 can detect our target?

Asked by: Surapun
Thank you for your question. Neither of these antibodies have been epitope mapped, so unfortunately we are unable to check the sequence homology for these products.

What is the recommended secondary reagent to be used with this mouse monoclonal primary?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
