GM-CSF Antibody (1D11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) in human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. GM-CSF is a crucial pleiotropic cytokine that plays a significant role in the regulation of hematopoiesis, particularly in the proliferation and differentiation of granulocytes and macrophages. GM-CSF is synthesized as a precursor with a 17 amino acid signal peptide that is cleaved to yield a mature form consisting of 127 amino acids in humans, while the murine counterpart is slightly shorter at 124 amino acids and shares approximately 60% homology with the human version. GM-CSF extends beyond structural characteristics as a glycoprotein that not only stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic cells but also promotes the phosphorylation of cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) in human neutrophils, which may enhance enzyme activity and contribute to inflammatory responses. Anti-GM-CSF antibody (1D11) serves as a valuable tool for research in various diseases, including autoimmune disorders and cancer, as GM-CSF′s ability to modulate immune responses makes this protein a vital target for understanding these conditions.
