Estrogen Receptor alpha Antibody (C-311) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 495-595 of bovine Estrogen Receptor alpha (ERα). Anti-ERα antibody (C-311) detects ERα of mouse, rat, human, and additional species by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). ERα protein functions as a ligand-activated transcription factor within the steroid hormone receptor superfamily. ERα comprises several domains: the N-terminal transactivation domain (AF-1), DNA-binding domain (DBD), hinge region, and C-terminal ligand-binding domain (LBD), which includes the activation function-2 (AF-2) region. This structural organization mediates estrogen binding and co-regulatory protein interactions, essential for regulating gene transcription during hormone signaling. Domain structure influences receptor specificity, ligand affinity, and protein interactions, while alterations can disrupt normal function, potentially contributing to hormone-dependent cancers, including breast cancer.
