AKAP 10 Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects AKAP 10 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AKAP 10, also known as PRKA10 or D-AKAP2, is a 662 amino acid protein located in the mitochondrial membrane, playing a crucial role in the spatial regulation of protein kinase A (PKA) signaling. AKAP 10′s localization facilitates the anchoring of both type I and type II regulatory subunits of PKA to specific cellular sites, particularly the plasma membrane and mitochondria. This compartmentalization allows PKA to phosphorylate key substrates, such as the pro-apoptotic protein Bad, thereby influencing apoptotic pathways and cell survival. By mediating the mitochondrial attachment of PKA, AKAP 10 indirectly regulates Bad-induced apoptosis, highlighting AKAP 10′s importance in cellular signaling and survival mechanisms. Furthermore, AKAP 10 may also play a role in G-protein coupled signal transduction and the assembly of multiprotein complexes, underscoring AKAP 10′s multifunctional nature in cellular processes.
