Prohibitin Antibody (6K2D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects prohibitin in human samples through immunoprecipitation (IP). Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved protein known for antiproliferative activity and plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle by blocking the transition between G1 and S phases. Prohibitin (6K2D1) antibody targets a protein predominantly localized in the inner membrane of mitochondria, where anti-prohibitin antibody (6K2D1) influences mitochondrial function and acts as a potential tumor suppressor by binding to retinoblastoma (Rb) and inhibiting E2F family members in response to specific signaling pathways. Additionally, prohibitin is involved in B cell maturation, as prohibitin monoclonal antibody (6K2D1) detects expression on the plasma membrane of B cells. Prohibitin mRNA and protein levels fluctuate throughout the cell cycle, peaking in G1, declining during S phase, and rising again in G2, indicating regulatory roles through both transcriptional and post-translational mechanisms. Notably, mutations in prohibitin genes have been linked to breast cancer development and progression in over 80% of analyzed cell lines, highlighting significance in cancer biology.
