Pneumocystis jirovecii (4i255) is an IgM kappa light chain antibody that specifically recognizes Pneumocystis jirovecii in post-application research. Anti-Pneumocystis jirovecii antibody (4i255) enables detection of this microscopic fungus that typically resides in human lungs, remaining benign in healthy individuals. Pneumocystis jirovecii poses a significant threat to immunocompromised patients, potentially causing Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), a condition characterized by lung basement membrane deterioration. This deterioration disrupts gas exchange, resulting in elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels and reduced oxygen diffusion into the bloodstream, leading to hypoxia. Pneumocystis jirovecii′s unique cell wall composition includes a polysaccharide layer contributing to virulence and immune evasion. Anti-Pneumocystis jirovecii antibody (4i255) proves valuable for studying PCP pathogenesis, host-fungus immune interactions, and developing targeted therapies against this life-threatening infection.
