Pitavastatin Lactone is a major phase 2 metabolite of pitavastatin, an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase. Studies have shown that conversion between the acid and lactone forms of pitavastatin occurs in the body and that these two forms differ in substrate activity tow.
