SEE ALSO...

p53 Antibody (DO-2) is a mouse monoclonal antibody IgG1 kappa light chain that specifically targets the p53 protein (also designated TP53) of mouse, rat, and human origin. p53 monoclonal antibody (DO-2) recognizes an epitope located between amino acids 10-16 of the p53 protein and is widely used in a variety of applications including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded tissues. Available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, p53 IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody (DO-2) is ideal for detecting the tumor suppressor p53, a crucial regulator of cell cycle control, apoptosis, and DNA repair. The p53 protein operates by upregulating genes associated with growth arrest and programmed cell death in response to cellular stress signals. It primarily localizes to the nucleus but can be shuttled to the cytoplasm by MDM2, an E3 ubiquitin ligase that regulates p53 by tagging it for proteasomal degradation. This regulation allows p53 to fluctuate between inactive and active states, driven by post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and acetylation. Mutations in the DNA-binding domain of p53 (amino acids 110-286) can impair its DNA binding capabilities, contributing to various cancers. Anti-p53 antibody (DO-2) is particularly useful in studies of p53′s role in tumor suppression, cell differentiation, and its dynamic regulation under different physiological and pathological conditions.

Can I use p53 Antibody (DO-2): sc-53394 to perform immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence on zefrafish brain and suggest the appropriate secondary antibody for the same.

Asked by: abhishekjain
Thank you for your question. We are aware of one product citation using this antibody in zebrafish samples. Please refer to PMID: 30073783 for the details. This is a mouse monoclonal IgG1, we would recommend using one of our fluorescently conjugated mouse IgG kappa binding proteins as a secondary antibody for detection. A complete list of avaialble conjugates is available below. https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/Secondary-Antibodies/_/N-1hoaxk4
