GSTO1 Antibody (6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects GSTO1 (glutathione S-transferase omega 1) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GSTO1 is a 241 amino acid protein predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and features both an N-terminal and a C-terminal glutathione S-transferase domain, which are crucial for enzymatic functions. GSTO1 is expressed widely, with highest levels found in the heart, liver, and skeletal muscle, and typically exists as a homodimer. GSTO1 plays a vital role in cellular detoxification processes by catalyzing glutathione conjugation to diverse organic compounds, forming thioethers that facilitate metabolism and elimination of xenobiotics and potential carcinogens. The structural integrity of GSTO1 is essential for function, as alterations could impact detoxification of harmful substances, thereby influencing susceptibility to various diseases. Human GSTO1 shares approximately 70% sequence homology with its rodent counterpart, indicating a conserved functional role across species. Genetic polymorphisms in GSTO1 have been linked to increased risk of developing childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Parkinson′s disease, and Alzheimer′s disease, underscoring GSTO1′s significance in health and disease.
