GAL4-TA Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects GAL4 by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GAL4 (D-4) antibody is essential for studying GAL4 function, one of the most extensively characterized transcriptional activators. GAL4 plays a crucial role in regulating the expression of genes involved in galactose metabolism, specifically activating GAL genes such as GAL1, GAL2, GAL7, GAL10, and MEL1 in response to galactose. The unique structure of GAL4, particularly its N-terminal 147 amino acid residues, allows for specific and strong binding to DNA, while the C-terminal transcriptional activation domain, spanning amino acids 768-881, is responsible for the activation of these genes. This structural distinction enables researchers to utilize GAL4 in various experimental systems, including yeast, plants, insects, and mammalian cells, to investigate transcriptional activation functions and protein-protein interactions. GAL4 (D-4) monoclonal antibody is particularly valuable in the development of the "two-hybrid" system, which leverages GAL4 fusions to identify specific interactions between proteins, thereby advancing our understanding of cellular processes and regulatory mechanisms.
