EF-2 Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects EF-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EF-2, or elongation factor 2, is a crucial GTPase that plays a vital role in the elongation phase of protein synthesis on the ribosome, facilitating the translocation of tRNAs and mRNAs. This process is essential for ensuring that the ribosome can accurately decode mRNA sequences into proteins, which are fundamental for cellular function and growth. The importance of EF-2 lies in its ability to support the movement of the ribosome along the mRNA strand, allowing for the sequential addition of amino acids to the growing polypeptide chain. Additionally, EF-2′s interaction with the ribosome is tightly regulated by GTP binding and hydrolysis, which is critical for maintaining the fidelity and efficiency of protein synthesis. Anti-EF-2 antibody (F-9) enables researchers to gain insights into the dynamics of protein translation and the regulatory mechanisms that govern this essential biological process.
