Cytokeratin 8 Antibody (M20) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Cytokeratin 8 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Cytokeratin 8 is a vital component of the cytoskeletal structure in epithelial cells, playing a crucial role in maintaining cellular integrity and providing mechanical support. Cytokeratin 8 is predominantly located in the cytoplasm of simple epithelial cells, where anti-Cytokeratin 8 antibody (M20) detects intermediate filaments that contribute to the overall architecture of the tissue. Cytokeratin 8 expression is particularly important in epithelial differentiation and tissue specialization, serving as a marker for various epithelial-derived tumors. Notably, abnormal Cytokeratin 8 expression in squamous cell carcinomas derived from stratified epithelia has been linked to malignancy, making Cytokeratin 8 a significant focus in cancer research. Cytokeratin 8 expression has been identified as an independent prognostic marker in oral squamous cell carcinomas, indicating a poor prognosis for affected patients.
