SEE ALSO...

CD20 Antibody (B-LY1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD20 protein of human origin by immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD20 (B-LY1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD20 protein is a crucial leukocyte surface antigen characterized by four transmembrane domains and cytoplasmic N- and C-termini, which play significant roles in cellular signaling. Notably, CD20′s cytoplasmic domain contains multiple phosphorylation sites that can lead to the generation of different isoforms, thereby influencing functional diversity. CD20 is predominantly expressed on B cells, but has also been identified on both normal and neoplastic T cells, highlighting relevance in various immune responses and pathologies. Functionally, CD20 acts as a calcium-permeable cation channel, facilitating transition from G0 to G1 phase of the cell cycle in response to insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). This activation is mediated through IGF-1 receptor and involves alpha subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins, ultimately leading to increased DNA synthesis, which is thought to be regulated by basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper transcription factors. CD20′s ability to modulate cell cycle progression underscores importance in both normal immune function and pathogenesis of B-cell malignancies, making anti-CD20 antibody (B-LY1) an essential tool for research and therapeutic applications.

Can CD20 (B-LY1): sc-19990 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD20 (B-LY1): sc-19990 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
