WFDC13, or WAP four-disulfide core domain 13, is a member of the WFDC domain-containing protein family, characterized by the WAP-type 'four-disulfide core' (WFDC) domain. This conserved domain typically consists of eight cysteine residues forming four disulfide bonds, which confer a stable and resilient structure capable of withstanding proteolytic environments such as those found in extracellular fluids.The WFDC13 protein is encoded by the WFDC13 gene. The exact biological functions and mechanisms of action of WFDC13 are not fully elucidated, but based on the known properties of the WFDC family, it is postulated to play a role in the body's defense system, particularly in mucosal protection and inflammation modulation.

Proteins in the WFDC family are often implicated in antimicrobial activity, protease inhibition, and immune regulation.
