I had used MyoD C-20 to detect MyoD in chicken myoblasts. It was great. However, C-20 was discontiuned and MyoD G-1 was produced instead. So, I brought the G-1, but the detection was not as good as C-20. Is there any way to get C-20?

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the rabbit polyclonal antibody, MyoD (C-20): sc-304, has been discontinued since 2016. It is no longer available for sale or distribution. We do not have any data or product citations yet using this mouse monoclonal antibody in chicken or avian samples. Please contact our Technical Service Department and we could assist you by performing sequence analysis to predict potential cross reactivity of our MyoD antibodies with chicken samples.

HI, I'm interested in detecting MYOD in bovine cells . do you know if it cross rects? thanks

Thank you for your question. This antibody hasn’t been tested in bovine samples. The exact epitope recognized by this mouse monoclonal antibody has not yet been determined, so we can not perform sequence analysis at this time to predict potential cross reactivity with that species.

Buenos días, estoy haciendo una inmunoprecipitacion con MyoD y quiero ver su anticuerpo HDAC1, pero la banda que me sale a 60 kDa no tengo claro si es HDAC1 o es la IgG, podrian decirme el peso al que me deberian salir las IgG??

Can I use This antibody in the mouse skeletal muscles?

The Western shown for this antibody shows a band at close to 55 kd. The western for MyoD 5.8A shows a band between 37 and 43 kd. Both are for MyoD. Please explain this discrepancy.

Thank you for your question. The base predicted weight for MyoD determined by sequence is approximately 35 kDa, however the protein appears to go through modification that results in the observed weight running at a variety of higher sizes. Publications have observed weights from 36-38 kDa through 43-45 kDa for the primary band, with some publications also reporting a band around 55-65 kDa. Due to this variability in size observed in various sample types, anything within this range that is clean and consistent is generally accepted. 1. In the Western analysis shown for this antibody, you have a positive band showing in at least 3 cell lines that are not myogenic and should not be expressing MyoD1. NIH3T3, 10T1/2, HeLa. Please explain.

While you are correct that skeletal tissues and other myogenic samples specifically show high levels of MyoD expression, other cell lines and tissue types are not null for the MyoD protein. Most commercial sources have seen positive detection in common cell lines such as HeLa. Western blotting with MyoD western antibody shows clear double bands below 50KD IgG heavy chain band which is commonly detect in human samples. Decided to move on our work with this antibody.
