Gemin6 Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Gemin6 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gemin6 (A-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Gemin6, encoded by human chromosome 2p22.2, plays a crucial role in assembling the survival of motor neuron (SMN) complex, which is essential for spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) biogenesis. This complex ensures proper pre-mRNA splicing, a fundamental process in gene expression that ensures correct messenger RNA processing before protein translation. Gemin6′s interaction with SMN and other components of the SMN complex maintains spliceosomal machinery integrity, particularly significant for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a neurodegenerative disease caused by SMN gene mutations. SMN complex localization in both cytoplasm and nucleus, especially within subnuclear structures called gems, highlights Gemin6′s multifaceted role in cellular function and potential disease mechanisms.
