FBPase Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects FBPase protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FBPase antibody (C-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase) plays a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate into fructose 6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate, a key step in gluconeogenesis that helps maintain blood glucose levels during fasting. The enzyme is encoded by two genes, FBP1 and FBP2, which produce liver and muscle isoforms, respectively, and is found in all living organisms, highlighting its fundamental importance in energy metabolism. The liver isoform of FBPase is composed of four identical subunits, and AMP regulates enzymatic activity by affecting the turnover of bound substrate rather than its affinity. Mutations in the FBP1 gene can lead to an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by FBPase deficiency, resulting in hypoglycemia and metabolic acidosis, while the muscle isoform is strategically located on both sides of the Z-line, facilitating its role in muscle metabolism.

Can FBPase (C-10): sc-166145 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Yes, FBPase (C-10): sc-166145 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
