SEE ALSO...

CD98 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD98 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD98 (E-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD98, also known as SLC3A2, is a disulfide-linked heterodimer consisting of a glycosylated heavy chain and a non-glycosylated light chain, which plays a crucial role as a scaffolding protein. CD98 is essential for interaction with basolaterally expressed amino acid transporters and β1 integrins, thereby influencing amino acid transport, cell adhesion, migration, and branching morphogenesis. CD98 heavy chain functions as a type II integral membrane protein and is predominantly expressed on T cells, where CD98 is upregulated upon T cell activation, as well as on monocytes, with lower expression levels found in granulocytes, platelets, and lymphocytes. CD98 is implicated in the regulation of T cell activation and proliferation, highlighting CD98′s significance in immune responses. Additionally, alternate transcriptional splice variants exist for the human CD98 gene, encoding different isoforms that may have distinct functional roles.
