The C-terminal coiled-coil region facilitates interaction with the nascent polypeptide-associated complex (NAC), a key transcriptional coactivator. α-taxilin primarily binds to the α subunit of NAC, and co-expression with overexpressed αNAC disrupts nuclear distribution, which is typically observed throughout the cytosol and nucleus. This interaction highlights α-taxilin′s importance not only in the translational process but also in the transcriptional regulation mediated by αNAC.
