VpreB Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects VpreB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). VpreB (H-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VpreB protein, also known as CD179a or pre-B lymphocyte 1, plays a crucial role in B cell development, specifically in pre-B lymphocytes, where VpreB is expressed but absent in mature B cells and other blood cell lineages. VpreB protein is essential for forming a molecular complex with the Ig-mu chain, which regulates immunoglobulin gene rearrangements during early B cell differentiation. The gene encoding VpreB is located on human chromosome 22q11.2, and in mice, VpreB and lambda 5 genes are co-expressed in pre-B cells as part of the same transcription unit, allowing for production of a primary transcript that undergoes alternative splicing to yield pre-B and lambda 5 mRNAs. In humans, these genes are separate entities, highlighting evolutionary differences in B cell development between species. The unique expression pattern and functional significance of VpreB make anti-VpreB antibody (H-11) an invaluable tool for studying B cell biology and related immunological processes.
