SMAP1 Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects SMAP1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMAP1, also known as small ArfGAP 1, is a 467 amino acid peripheral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in clathrin-dependent endocytosis by localizing to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane. As a GTPase activating protein for ARF6, SMAP1 is essential for regulating membrane trafficking and cellular signaling pathways, which are vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to external stimuli. SMAP1 is widely expressed across various tissues, including lymph node, spinal cord, bone marrow, adrenal gland, trachea, stomach, thyroid, and embryonic hematopoietic tissues, highlighting its importance in diverse biological processes. SMAP1 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 6q13, which is significant not only for its size—comprising nearly 6% of the human genome—but also for its association with various diseases, including Parkinson′s disease and Stickler syndrome. Additionally, SMAP1 exists in multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing, and contains one Arf-GAP domain, which is critical for its function in modulating ARF6 activity. Anti-SMAP1 antibody (H-11) versatility in detecting this important protein across different species and applications makes this reagent an invaluable tool for researchers studying cellular mechanisms and disease pathways.
