Nup98 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Nup98 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Nup98 antibody (C-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nup98 is a crucial component of nuclear pore complexes (NPCs), which facilitate the transport of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm, a process vital for cellular function and gene expression regulation. Nup98 is characterized by its unique structure, which includes O-linked N-acetylglucosamine moieties and a distinctive pentapeptide repeat (XFXFG), allowing Nup98 to interact effectively with other nucleoporins and contribute to the integrity and functionality of the NPC. The NUP98 gene encodes precursor proteins that yield two nucleoplasmically oriented nucleoporins, Nup98 and Nup96, with Nup98 being essential for processes such as RNA export from the nucleus. Nup98 plays a significant role during gastrulation, a critical developmental phase marked by rapid cell proliferation, while being dispensable for basal cell growth. The t(7;11)(p15;p15) translocation associated with acute myeloid leukemia results in the fusion of the NUP98 gene with the class I homeoprotein HoxA9, leading to the formation of the Nup98-HoxA9 fusion protein, which may contribute to leukemogenesis by disrupting normal differentiation processes and nucleocytoplasmic transport.
