MREG Antibody (F-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MREG protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MREG antibody (F-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MREG protein, also known as melanoregulin or dilute suppressor protein homolog, plays a crucial role in the biogenesis of disk membranes in photoreceptor rod cells, which are essential for vision in low-light conditions. Located in the outer segment of these photoreceptor cells, MREG is involved in the complex biochemical processes that regulate the constant renewal of disk membranes, ensuring that photoreceptors maintain their functionality. Notably, MREG interacts with RDS (Peripherin-2), a tetraspanin protein critical for preserving the structural integrity of photoreceptor cells during membrane fusion and renewal. MREG protein consists of 214 amino acids and is expressed in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, highlighting its versatility and importance in retinal health and function.
