MCAT Antibody (E-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MCAT protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MCAT (E-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MCAT protein, also known as mitochondrial malonyl CoA:ACP acyltransferase, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the transfer of a malonyl group from malonyl-CoA to the mitochondrial acyl carrier protein (NDUFAB1), which is a subunit of respiratory complex I. This enzymatic activity is vital for initiating the type II fatty acid biosynthesis system, which is essential for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis and supporting various metabolic processes.
