Gas2 Antibody (L-14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Gas2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gas2 is a 313 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene GAS2 and is crucial for regulating apoptosis, acting as a substrate for caspases during programmed cell death. Specifically, Gas2 is cleaved by caspase-3 and caspase-7 at Asparagine 278, leading to significant alterations in the actin cytoskeleton and resulting in dramatic changes in cell morphology. Gas2 participates in membrane ruffling, a process essential for cell movement and shape changes. During the G0-G1 transition phase, Gas2 undergoes phosphorylation on serine residues, which influences localization and function. Gas2 co-localizes with actin fibers at the cell border and along stress fibers in growth-arrested fibroblasts. Hyperphosphorylation causes Gas2 to accumulate at membrane ruffles, highlighting a dynamic role in cellular processes. Gas2 is specifically expressed during growth arrest and is found at high levels in the liver, lung, and kidney, although absent in the spleen, indicating specialized functions in different tissues.
