Der Cortistatin-Antikörper (A-7) ist ein monoklonaler Maus IgG1 κ Cortistatin-Antikörper (auch als Cortistatin-Antikörper bezeichnet), der das Cortistatin-Protein menschlichen Ursprungs mittels WB, IP, IF und ELISA detektiert. Der Cortistatin-Antikörper (A-7) ist sowohl in Form des nicht konjugierten Anti-Cortistatin-Antikörpers als auch in Form mehrerer Konjugate des Anti-Cortistatin-Antikörpers, einschließlich Agarose, HRP, PE, FITC und mehrerer Alexa Fluor®-Konjugate, erhältlich. Cortistatin ist ein 155 Aminosäure-Protein, das vom menschlichen Gen CORT codiert wird. Dieses Produkt des CORT-Gens ist ein Neuropeptid mit einer starken strukturellen Ähnlichkeit zu Somatostatin. Es bindet an alle bekannten Somatostatin-Rezeptoren und teilt viele pharmakologische und funktionelle Eigenschaften mit Somatostatin, einschließlich der Depression neuronaler Aktivität. Cortistatin hat jedoch auch viele Eigenschaften, die sich von Somatostatin unterscheiden, wie die Induktion des langsamen Wellenschlafs, offenbar durch Antagonismus der excitatorischen Wirkungen von Acetylcholin auf der Cortex, Reduktion der locomotorischen Aktivität und Aktivierung von cationspezifischen Strömen, die nicht auf Somatostatin reagieren.
