α Tubulin Antibody (3H3085) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that specifically targets α Tubulin, a key protein in the structure of microtubules, from mouse, rat, human, and yeast sources. Anti-α Tubulin antibody (3H3085) is raised against full-length, purified α Tubulin derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is effective for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry (IHC), with a particular recommendation for detecting the tyrosinated form of α Tubulin. As a major cytoskeletal component, α Tubulin partners with β Tubulin to form heterodimers that assemble into microtubules, which are essential for various cellular functions such as intracellular transport, cell division, and maintaining cell shape. Post-translational modifications of α Tubulin, particularly tyrosination and detyrosination, are crucial for regulating microtubule stability and interactions with motor proteins like kinesin and dynein. These modifications help control the dynamic behavior of microtubules, which is critical for processes such as cell division, mitotic spindle formation, and neuronal signaling. Additionally, α Tubulin′s role in the centrosome and cilia underscores its importance in microtubule nucleation and organization, with specific isoforms localizing to distinct regions in the cell during the cell cycle. Known alternately as Tubulin alpha chain or TUBA1A, α Tubulin is also involved in organizing the structure of cilia and flagella, essential for cellular movement and signaling. α Tubulin monoclonal antibody (3H3085) serves as a valuable tool for studying the dynamics and regulation of microtubules, helping to unravel the molecular mechanisms underpinning cellular function and development.

I am using α Tubulin (3H3085): sc-69970 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
