ACE2 Antibody (E-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ACE2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACE2 (E-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ACE2 plays a crucial role in the renin-angiotensin system, primarily functioning as a negative regulator of angiotensin II, a potent vasopressor that contributes to hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. By converting angiotensin II into angiotensin-(1-7), ACE2 helps to counteract the effects of angiotensin II, promoting vasodilation and reducing blood pressure. This balance is vital for maintaining cardiovascular health and preventing conditions such as heart failure and stroke. ACE2 is predominantly expressed in cardiac, renal, and testicular tissues, distinguishing ACE2 from ACE homolog, which is found throughout the vasculature. Such specific localization in these tissues underscores ACE2′s importance in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance, as well as ACE2′s potential role in various pathophysiological conditions, including viral infections where ACE2 serves as a receptor for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
