Kenpaullon ist ein ATP-kompetitiver Inhibitor mehrerer CDKs (Cyclin-abhängige Kinasen) sowie von GSK-3beta (Glykogensynthase-Kinase 3beta). Es kann GSK-3 mit einem IC50-Wert von 0,23 muM und CDK1/Cyclin B, CDK2/Cyclin A, CDK5/p25 und Lymphozytenkinase mit IC50-Werten von 0,4, 0,68, 0,85 bzw. 0,47 muM hemmen. Aufgrund der Aktivität der Verbindung ist Kenpaullon für die Untersuchung von Zellzyklusregulatoren nützlich. Kenpaullon ist ein Inhibitor von Cyclin E, ERK 2 und p35.
